And we officially cannot wait.

Carpool Karaoke has become the most famous segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden, and one of YouTube’s most popular franchises ever.

The series sees James inviting famous guests to drive to work with him, singing along to their music and engaging in an informal interview as they go.

Featuring skits with Adele, Justin Bieber, Stevie Wonder, Sia, Bruno Mars, Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez to name a few, only a select few get the invitation to take part – how can you top First Lady Michelle Obama?

Everyone has been wondering who will be the next to sit in James’ passengers seat, and it was announced yesterday that it will be none other than Katy Perry.

Speaking to André Leon Talley at the Met Gala on Monday, James got the world talking as he opened up about what’s to come for the segment. ‘We have one coming out with Ed Sheeran,’ he announced. ‘We’ve got one with Usher and we might be doing one with someone in this very room tonight.’

The Met Gala 2017 was full of stars dying to take part in the segment so that didn’t exactly narrow down the options, but people were quick to assume that Katy Perry was the person in question, with the 32-year-old singer being a co-chair of Monday’s event.

The Late Late Show made the news official this week, tweeting a video of James dancing in his car, along with the announcement ‘Carpool Karaoke with @KatyPerry is coming Monday, May 22! Get all the #KatyCarpool deets here’.

Katy then confirmed the news, retweeting the video of James in his car, captioned ‘Ready for this ride!’

When asked who his dream Carpool Karaoke guest would be a few years back, James named Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran, alongside Beyonce and U2. It looks like he might get through his whole list in 2017 alone.
