13th January: Moncler Gamme Rouge show

For snowy style inspiration this weekend, we're looking back at – what else – a Moncler Gamme Rouge show. Forget thermals and gloves. No, it's really all about Swiss lace, a furry trim - and a troupe of alpine musicians wielding giant cowbells. The hills are alive!

30th December: Bianca Jagger

She's since set the record straight, confirming she didn't actually ride the horse (led by a naked man) into her 30th birthday party, but we can all take inspiration from the eternally stylish Bianca Jagger.

16th December: Grace Jones

Bow down to this season's party icon Grace Jones. TBH, she's our eternal icon - for every season, forever. But the shoulders, the hair, the power mood...the everything (well, except the cigarette) are just so Christmas 2016. Grrrrrr!

2nd December: Leonard Lewis and Twiggy

Leonard Lewis, the man who launched Twiggy's career by chopping off her hair, died this week. 'Leonard of Mayfair' cut the manes of everyone from Faye Dunaway to the Rolling Stones and President Kennedy at his five-storey salon in London's Upper Grosvenor Street. Twiggy's initial reaction to her radical 'do: "someone said it makes me look like a Luftwaffe pilot."

25th November: Let 'Em Eat Cake Christmas party season is happening, ready or not. But could there ever have been a more decadent bash than John Galliano's 'Let 'Em Eat Cake' couture show for Dior? Inspired by Art Nouveau and iconic aristo, the Marchesa Casati, the finale saw John and his supermodel flock covered in a shower of pastel confetti cut into the shape of butterflies.

18th November: Diane Kruger Guess who? Hint: you probably won't be able to. But the lady lounging about in a cosy Katherine Hamnett faux fur in this shoot from our very own Marie Claire fashion archives is none other than Diane Kruger. But she wasn't called that 20 years ago. Oh no. As a 20-year-old jobbing model, she was known as Diane Heidkrüger. You can definitely tell fashion-icon-status was in her future…

11th November: Fashion Styles on the Streets of Manhattan Newsflash - street style didn't start with The Sartorialist. Nope, here's the 1970s version, from a newspaper feature called 'Fashion Styles on the Streets of Manhattan.' The floor-length fur (with extra fur trim)…the fedora…the small matching dog…Could this be any more how we want to look now it's freezing? But with faux fur, naturally.

4th November: Diana, Princess of Wales The checks, the oversized rounded shoulders, the cinched-in corset belt…why, this could be straight off the Isabel Marant catwalk. But no model could ever wear a blanket coat (and matching two-tone hat) with the panache of the queen of hearts…

Siouxsie Sioux

28th October: Siouxsie Sioux If you're looking for some Halloween inspiration, may we remind you of the fashionistas' favourite goth of all time, Siouxsie Sioux. Forget blood-stained brides and skeletons – what could be spookier and sexier than black-lipped, star-eyed Siouxsie and her monochrome outfits?
