Cheryl for Afghanistan

Driving around town I was most surprised to spot Cheryl Tweedy smiling coyly down from a billboard advertising Golrang Shampoo.
I wonder if Cheryl knows she is endorsing an Iranian hair product? I suspect not.
She became, of course, the new face of L'Oreal in 2009. A quick look at Wikipedia also reveals that as a member of Girls Aloud she has endorsed Barbie, KitKat, Nintendo DS, Samsung and Sunsilk. No mention of Golrang.
Maybe Kabul is the new Tokyo with stars sneaking off to endorse Af-Pak and Iranian products a la Bill Murray in Lost in Translation. Somehow, no.
But I've been thinking about Cheryl Tweedy. When I was back in London, she was on the cover of practically every single glossy mag. She is clearly the girl de jour.
That being so, I feel the time is now right for her to up her currency and fame yet further by taking on an ambassadorship. Angelina Jolie is do-gooder in chief, obviously. Jude Law, David Beckham, and a chef whose name I don't recall have also hit the Afghan celeb circuit recently.
Cheryl, according to WikiAnswers, already does a bit of charity work: "teenage cancer, dogs trust and a few others. But given her recent run-in with a mosquito surely a UN ambassadorship for malaria prevention must be coming her way soon?
Afghanistans Ministry of Public Health will distribute 5 million mosquito nets in 2010 in the hope of cutting the number of malaria cases from the 65,000 that were reported in 2009. Cheryls first assignment! Seriously!
And if she has a spare moment in her schedule, she could also do a guest appearance as a judge on Afghan Star.
And, topping that, next time she meets up with Simon Cowell and his Afghan-born fiancée, Mezhgan Hussainy, she'll have a great new line of conversation.
