Free wine and cash-back
Posted by Anita Brook at 09:34 on 23 Mar 2010
This week I've found a brilliant site to save all you online shopaholics some cash. It's a company called Quidco which gives you cash back for goods that you buy online. Essentially you are getting money off everything - it's like the January sales all over again. Happy days!
What you have to do is sign up at Quidco.com (free to sign up) and then you just shop as you normally would, but via their website. There are thousands of retailers listed on the site - including well known shops like Office, M&S, Expedia, Superdrug and Apple Store. When you click through and buy anything at any of these sites, Quidco gets a commission (usually around 8 - 15% of what you spend)- which it pays to you as 'cashback', direct to your bank account. It really is as simple as that and what's more they pay you 100% of the commission.
Quidco make their money from a £5 annual fee which is deducted from your cash-back earnings (so you don't pay it until you earn it). According to their website, the average member gets £262 cash back a year so £5 isn't much to fork out.
The best offers change regularly, but I found a ridiculously good offer with Gondola Wine where you get £10 off at the till with a voucher code provided by Quidco, plus you get 8% cash-back. The good bit is that there is actually no minimum limit on the amount you spend, so that means if you buy a bottle that costs less than £10, you would just pay the delivery charge and still get your 8% cash-back through Quidco. The offer is at www.quidco.com/gondola.
Other retailers where you can get cash back include £43 cash-back for broadband with Plusnet - which means it costs from just £2.40 a month; 8% back when you shop at Body Shop; 9 % at Republic... You get the idea.
So before you buy anything online then you may as well check if you can buy it via Quidco - there really is nothing to lose. I'm off to do some shopping and I don't feel even the slightest but guilty because I am saving money!
