Farewell friends and home comforts

To help me raise a few funds to send me on my way my friends suggested I should have a raffle and a leaving do. And a raffle and a leaving do is what I had. I was slightly nervous  and embarrassed about some of the prizes. But, it went down a treat. I've lived in my village since I was born and so have a good base of friends in the "hood" of Chalfont St Giles. My mum brought all her friends down and all my favourite people from past and present made the trek on however many trains and taxis out to my neck of the woods.

I managed to get prizes donated from Bays Brewery, Co-op, local businesses and my mum's friends. Carol Miles, a legend in the village, kindly gave me a sackful of goodies. One prize went down surprisingly well, and the winners were the envy of all the rafflers.....metal duck name places, how perfect for dinner parties.

I've now had my last English shower and have finally abandoned my home comforts and luxuries. Four hours until I wave goodbye to Blighty for half a year. The cycle adventure to Africa is about to take off and become a reality.
