A brilliant but also worrying development
Posted by Helen Whitaker at 20:22 on 1 Feb 2010
So there I am minding my own business at The Palihouse on Sunday when who should walk in - Paul Sculfor! I was half tempted to ask him if Rufus was OK after his experience at LAX but thought that might look, well, freaky so instead I just stared at him a bit and told everyone (including you) that he is stalking me. He's not. As far as I know. If he turns up near my house I'll let you know.
However, the week's best and also most worrying development is that the liquor store next to our apartment has started giving my boyfriend and I a discount on wine. Howard (yes, we've been on first name terms for quite some time), the owner, told us this as we were buying a bottle the other day. Apparently, the building we live in was renovated before we moved in two years ago and most of the old residents moved out. According to Howard, the new residents don't buy half as much booze as the previous lot so they're trying to keep the ones that do keen. Obviously I'm not one to turn down a bargain, but I'm not sure 'valued customer at the off-licence' is the LA persona I was trying to create. Bugger.
