I am a reformed character! Went sledging on Wednesday with Fergus and also after bumping into him in Costa (this is the way of the small town / freelance life) Matt Black and his son. Despite his son and mine treating snowball fights like it was guerrilla warfare (with Matt Black and I being the less mobile and larger army!) it was actually very good fun with ‘apres-sledge' at the pub really being the icing on the cake.

The next day my car was going nowhere and I had to take F to school on his sledge - a hour's ride - with me pulling all the way, culminating in a huge uphill ascent at the end where F whined about the fact his wellies didn't fit and I whined about the fact I am well....not very fit! Since the snow means am not likely to get much done in the way of writing, I may look into an alternative career as a sherpa.
