The backdrop might have been an industrial factory, complete with extractor vents and flicking neon lights, but the Just Cavalli show this afternoon looked more suited to vagabond gypsies than blue collar workers.

 
With long, lacy negligees worn over shrunken tees, raffia-edged accessories and plenty of fringing, there was a playful, vintage vibe to the collection, which also featured silk bra tops on top of sheer blouses, ripped denim pieces, oversized men's waistcoats and some well-worn holey knits.

Over at D&G a few hours later, denim was in plentiful supply again, but it was 'sexy cowgirls' showing it off, rather than minxy gypsies.

Wearing suede or leather cowboy boots, either flat, or with mid-high heels and plenty of fringing, D&G's fresh-faced models sauntered along the dirt-track runway in white lace and chiffon prairie skirts, styled with knotted denim shirts and wide leather belts. In fact, on a few occasions, they did away with the skirts altogether and made do with just the belt.
 
Thrown into the mix for youthful effect were a few Minnie Mouse prints on pink T-shirts or crepe de chine minis, but the message was clear: spring/summer 2010 won't be complete without a great new piece of denim.
