Revenge: the LA way
Posted by Helen Whitaker at 20:21 on 14 Jul 2009
After an outpouring of grief that I thought would never end, LA has bounced back from the whole Michael Jackson thing as if it never happened. His entire back catalogue seemed to be on repeat everywhere I went for a fortnight but now there’s nary a Smooth Criminal to be heard along Melrose Ave, and just where do those Jacko impersonators go when the TV cameras disappear? If a look-a-like performs when no one is watching, does he sing at all?
So in keeping with the collective LA attention span a new thing caught my eye whilst I was walking down Melrose Ave on Saturday. Unfortunately, ‘Lost dog’ signs are not uncommon on lamp-posts around LA, but it seems the owner of this particular ‘dog’ doesn’t want hers back. The posters were on every lamp post as far as the eye could see, proving that whoever he’s scorned has decided to get creative in her revenge strategy. I wonder how many sympathetic women called him to give him a piece of their mind.
Though knowing this town, ‘David’ will use the situation to his advantage and should anyone give him a call he’ll probably either a) ask the caller out, or b) see if they can pass on his head shots to anyone influential.

Interesting tactic for revenge.
It's funny, we were having a conversation recently about posters we'd seen in the street for someone's birthday - baby pictures and an inescapable message which made anonymity a no no for the 'lucky' birthday girl.
We were all of the opinion that it was not what we'd want for a birthday present, this is clearly a more appropriate use!
