Paris Clears up a Rumour

Paris Hilton

How I love it when the stars use their blogs to 'clear up rumours'. No 1 culprit is Paris Hilton, who I met this weekend at the star-studded launch of the Mardan Palace Hotel in Turkey. On her MySpace blog she clears up a 'LIE' written in a tabloid about her getting up to no good with boyfriend Doug Reinhardt in a toilet at a yacht party in Cannes. Could she be referring to this? According to the Mirror, David Furnish kicked them out.

Not that I think Paris really cares what anyone says about her - if her speech at Saturday's Mardan launch party is anything to go by. Greeting the several-hundred special guests (including members of the British press) with the line 'Hello Rich People' (of course this excludes us and includes friends of the Russian owner, who has created Europe's most expensive hotel) she went on to say that 'as an international celebrity' she was thrilled to be there (no doubt for a large fee), even professing the gilded palace was 'better than any Hilton' she'd ever seen.

Also present at the launch was Mariah Carey, apparently paid £1m to treat us to a intimate concert amid moans to her manager that she needed the fans on pronto ('It's so hot in here') and the smoke was damaging her voice. She even fled the stage mid-way through 'My All' to be re-tooled (her hair was curling up).

Of course, her experience was Twittered for all to see (my favourite update being 'I'm leaving Turkey right now. Feeling like mashed potatoes!') She also got in a nice album plug: 'Listening to a potential sequence for Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel while watching fireworks in Turkey.'

More bizarrely, she claims she met some 'lambs'. Snow in the VIP spa yes, fish in resort's five aquariums. Shark in the man-made swim reef, gondolas in the pool (the place was mental, believe me). But lambs? I must have missed something.
