So while I might look slimmer, there is a downside to wearing only black, navy or at a push charcoal. Pale grey was deemed ‘too obvious’ by the chicest Parisienne I know. She’s been wearing her Louis Vuitton navy blazer with a nonchalant smear of a dark red Lancome lipstick, which apparently all her colleagues at the Balmain press office think is super daring on account of there being two colours competing for attention in her outfit! My skin, which franchement needs white or red to look healthy (or I could just start eating vegetables again, I guess) is now looking decidedly flat.

Luckily La Artiste (who despite living on the smallest budget ever will only put La Prairie on her skin) took pity on me and sent me straight over to the newly revamped Anne Semonin spa at the Bristol. It was so elegantly non-flashy and yet extremely luxe that I was thankful to be wearing simple black trousers as oppose to the denim shorts (plus neutral eye shadow and skinny hair…hey I’m a quick learner). After a bespoke facial with a concoction of custom-mixed essential oils and some bliss-inducing acupressure massage I looked like I’d just been for a brisk, three-mile walk in the countryside. So this is why Parisian women never bother to exercise. J'adore ça.
