I thought I’d post a gratuitous super-cute picture of my boy on my blog today. It’s just him and me at the moment and I have to say that aside from rude awakenings at 6am every day (you see I am spoiled, usually I have three mornings a week when he wakes up at his dad’s) I am loving it.
His dad’s gone to Afghanistan to take pictures (that is his actual job by the way. He’s not just gone to get a few holiday snaps!) and is not back for three weeks. We speak most days - that’s what happens when you’re parents, I guess, regardless of whether you’re together and I’m worried about him, but I know that he’s wanted to go and do a project out there for ages, so I’m just glad it’s actually happening. Fergus knows his dad’s in ‘Astanistarn’.
It’s funny, because I was kind of dreading it, being a ‘real single mum’ for three weeks with no help at all, but it’s been so nice. This afternoon we’re going to the aquarium and then we might go for a pizza together and stroll along the Southbank (well, Fergus will be haring along on his scooter but you get the idea!) Sometimes I have to remember he’s three, and not my actual friend! With all the upheaval going on at the moment and the trying to date and the trying to write a book, Fergus is actually the most uncomplicated thing in my life. I love him, he loves me, end of story. It’s brill.

I'd just like to say I love reading your blogs, they make me feel like there is at least one other person out there who thinks the same things as me.
And having a wee man of my own, really makes you appreciate he simplicity of a childs love for their mother at a young age. Even when he is mad with me, i know he loves me, there are no games, no tricks its wonderful.
Thanks for sharing.

I really like your blog, I finally managed to start reading it again after moving abroad!
I'm glad things have worked out for you - Fergus actually looks like the double of you! Very cute kid.
