Panic packing

With the holiday getting close now I have various piles of clothes and shoes all over my flat - there is a pile of definites, a pile of maybes and a pile of what was I thinking. And I'd put money on the fact that those piles will stay exactly where they are until about an hour before I have to be at the airport.
I'm trying to keep luggage weight down but have given up on packing only hand luggage (again, file under what was I thinking). Then at really random moments I think of something I should take (hat, suncream, shoes) and scribble myself a note, which I then lose.
Hopefully the holiday will be more relaxing than the packing.
