Making merry with the gardening crowd

So my Poppy dress has arrived and it is lovely and 1940s but short, oh so very short. I've resisted going into the toilets to try it on so far but the suspense is killing me. I hope you don't have to be Kate Moss to wear it. That could be a problem.

The dress would have been very apt for my Chelsea Flower Show soiree last night.

What a jolly bunch of people - garden designers, judges and fellow journalists. And when I say jolly, I mean plastered.

The gang of merry makers - including my colleague Ellie and I - would look at a garden, which seemed to involve trampling through it, careful to avoid the water features, then have a glass of Laurent Perrier pink champagne. Another garden, more champagne.

We were still there at 10pm, long since dark, wandering through magical horticultural fairylands. I also now have a crush on one of the super posh designers.

Have your say ...
