The couture facial

Marie Claire blogs: Carla Bevan

Monday evenings are the perfect time for spa treatments. Especially Monday evenings when there are 80-mile-per-hour gales roaring outside. Which is why I found myself luxuriating in the blissful surroundings of Amanda Lacey last night.

Situated a stone's throw from Harrods, this little day spa offers just three treatments. All of which are facials. (There's no messing about here, they do what they do and they do it very, very well.)

I had the Amanda Lacey Signature Facial, which lasts one wonderful hour, and includes a paraffin wax (this is definitely a treatment that needs the expert touch), 'lymphatic drainage massage' (so lots of rubbing and kneading), a little extraction (not actually too painful), and a shoulder, neck and arm massage.

I'm not entirely sure how I got home afterwards, but I slept very well indeed.

Have your say ...
