The best sandwich stop in Milan

There is a common misconception that fashion people don't eat. I can promise you now, this is most certainly not true.

The real talking point in Milan this week has not been the rise and fall of hemlines, nor the terrible scheduling of some of the shows, but the demise in the food on offer at the press events.

In-between the shows, you see, the editors don't waft back to their hotel rooms or sit and drink champagne (OK, well there might be a little Prosecco drinking), they go to press appointments and given there are so many of these, the hope is someone might feed you on the way.

Well, that doesn't quite seem to be happening. We had a lovely little soupcon of crème brulée at Bottega Venetta and I saw some croissants at Marni, but unfortunately those had evaporated once they got past the first row.

Thankfully I'm travelling in the company of the Marie Claire fashion editors, who've been coming to Milan for years and so know the best places to grab a sandwich. Today that meant a quick dash into a wonderful little corner deli where the staff are dressed in black and white designer uniforms and even the takeaway sarnies come wrapped in ribbon and silky paper.

Have your say ...
