Mulberry party
Posted by Emma Sibbles at 11:23 on 15 Feb 2008
Last night, Londons fashionistas were out in force at the launch of Hadley Freeman's book, The Meaning of Sunglasses, at the Mulberry store on New Bond Street.
The theme was a beach party with beach balls and flower garlands strewn about the store. Waiters were dressed in teeny tiny shorts and T-shirts.
This was the party of London Fashion Week with celebrities in full force and of course the ubiquitous Geldof gang seriously is there a party they don't attend?
More thrillingly, I spotted Zadie Smith and husband Nick Laird, Lily Allen, Jaime Winston (who I chatted to in the queue for the toilet), Alexa Chung and Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys), New Young Pony Club (who were DJ-ing) and model Jade Parfitt.
The celebrity faux pas of the evening award shall be shared between Lady Victoria Hervey for trying to smoke inside (with two friends) really unsubtly, um, the smoke kind of gave it away! and Peaches Geldof, who kept knocking peoples drinks off tables and not apologising (just not cool).
Hot Chip played a great set and even had the fashion crowd dancing (notably a difficult thing to do for people who take themselves this seriously).
We drank... champagne, G&Ts and pink sugary cocktails
We ate... pretty much nothing. Werent you listening, it was a fashion party?
Goodie bag... notta one. We're still waiting for our Roxanne bag...
