Born a woman, Beatie underwent gender realignment surgery, choosing to keep his female reproductive organs. His story hit the headlines when he appeared on Oprah, telling the chat show queen he became pregnant after being artificially inseminated by an anonymous donor. Beatie and his wife Nancy are now expecting their second child.
