The stars were out in force to bid farewell to the famous chat show host

It was an absolutely glittering night when Hollywood's A-list descended on Chicago to bid a final farewell to American chat show host, Oprah Winfrey. The spectacular guest list - which read like a who's who of music and movie icons - was lined up for a four-hour taping, to record the final three episodes of Oprah's famous US show. With far too many famous names, the TV matriarch welcomed Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Madonna, Beyonce, Will Smith, Halle Berry and Aretha Franklin - among many others - onto the famous stage to celebrate the end of a chatshow era. Tom Hanks brought the media mogul to tears with a heartfelt speech, while Madonna gushed: 'It's no secret that millions of people are inspired by Oprah. I am one of them.' Ms Winfrey enjoyed performances from the lovely Ms Knowles, Stevie Wonder and Usher during her dazzling send-off, which will be broadcast in the US next week.
