Seven years on from her Oscar-winning portrayal of real-life environmentalist Erin Brokovich, Julia Roberts’s concerns for saving the planet have evolved beyond the confines of the movie screen. The actress cites motherhood as the inspiration for her green crusade, which extends from building a solar-powered home for her family (husband Danny Moder, twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, aged three, and 11-month-old Henry), to campaigning for the use of biodiesel on state school buses. Roberts says, ‘It’s our responsibility to take care of our children, so that [when it’s too late] we don’t just throw up our hands and say, “Wow, we pretty much fucked this up. Good luck!”’
