Hilary Swank's life began from humble roots, spending part of her childhood in a trailer park in Los Angeles living in a car with her mum.

Her acting debut came at the early age of nine when she appeared on stage, she then broke into TV work in 1990. Hilary had a brief stint in cult series Beverly Hills 90210 in 1997, before she finally broke into movie-making.

Her determination and talent led her to become the third-youngest-ever actress to win two Oscars, for her roles in Boys Don't Cry (2000) and Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby (2005).

Hilary describes herself as, 'an actress, not a celebrity' and as such, keeps a low profile in Hollywood. She married actor Chad Lowe in 1997 but the couple divorced nine years later in 2006. She is currently dating her former agent John Campisi.
