Hollywood's hottest man of the moment, George Clooney's first acting role came in 1984 when he starred in the TV series E/R, not to be confused with hospital drama, ER, which flung George into the limelight in the 90's.
His first major movie role came in 1996 when he starred in the Robert Rodriguez film, From Dusk Till Dawn. Further roles came in Batman & Robin and Out Of Sight, opposite Jennifer Lopez.
George left ER in 1999 to pursue his film career full-time and with roles in the Coen Brother's film, O Brother, Where Are Thou? and the Ocean's triology, he secured his position as one of the most successful movie stars of our generation.
More recently George has taken on directing roles, debuting with the 2002 film Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and following with 1950s-set movie, Good Night, and Good Luck. The latter earned George two Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. However, it was his role in the politically-charged Syriana that won George a Best Supporting Actor Oscar.
As his profile has grown, so has George's commitment to using his celebrity status to highlight global issues. He was presented with the Summit Peace Award by the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates in December 2007 and appointed a UN peace envoy in January 2008. George has famously said he has no plans to marry again after divorcing his first wife Talia Balsam in 1993. The most sought-after bachelor in Hollywood recently split with his ex-girlfriend, Sarah Larson.
