As a model, Cameron Diaz notched up campaigns for the likes of Calvin Klein, Levi's and Coca-Cola before a chance audition saw her landing the female lead in The Mask, opposite Jim Carey, in 1994.
Despite no previous acting appearance, Cameron shone on the big screen and a Hollywood career beckoned.
Smaller, independent releases followed before worldwide, blockbuster hit There's Something About Mary in 1998, in which Cameron starred alongside then-boyfriend Matt Dillon.
Her biggest paycheque to date was for Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, which coined her a cool $20 million. Only Julia Roberts had ever commanded so much.
