Born in New York in 1982, Anne Hathaway launched her career in 2001 playing the lead role in Disney movie The Princess Diaries, earning her the accolade of People magazine's Breakthrough Star of 2001.
She followed this success with The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement and Ella Enchanted, both in 2004.
Anne began to steer her career away from family movies with appearances in Havoc, Brokeback Mountain and, her highest grossing film yet, The Devil Wears Prada, opposite Meryl Streep.
In 2007, she portrayed Jane Austen in the hit film Becoming Jane and is set to star in action movie comedy Get Smart, opposite Steve Carell in 2008.
She is engaged to real estate developer Raffaello Follieri, who she started dating in 2004.
