Naomi did not move to Australia until 1982 where she began attending acting classes and her career in Australian television took off. One of her first roles came in TV soap Home and Away.

Naomi first hit the silver screen alongside Nicole Kidman and Thandie Newton in Flirting, before moving to the USA to break Hollywood. She struggled to find decent roles but her breakthrough came in David Lynch's highly acclaimed Mulholland Drive in 2001.

Since then, Naomi's career has gone from strength to strength with a leading role in King Kong and most recently in David Cronenberg's Eastern Promises.

In 2006, Naomi was named a special representative to a U.N. program for HIV/AIDS. She has been in a relationship with Liev Schreiber since 2005 and gave birth to their first son, Alexander Pete, in July 2007.
