Karlie Kloss and Michael Kors at NYFW
So back to beauty, and the look was another nod to the 90s with a dash of 60s thrown in. I for one will be attempting to recreate the floating arc of colour seen on the eyes courtesy of makeup maestro Dick Page. A quick dash to Starbucks (in the absence of the IV caffeine drip I was hankering after) and it was on to Nanette Lepore where the delectable James Pecis talked us through his perky ‘post-modern picnic’ inspired pony (one for speech therapists to chew over!).
Over on makeup, MAC’s Max Delorme gave us some more colour (gasp!) with his ‘punky sexy eye’.
After catching up with a fellow beauty journo for a quick coffee (who’s counting?), it was on to J Mendel where Gucci Westman was in danger of losing her usual cool after a rather last minute makeup change. She needn’t have worried though as the end result was super pretty, like summer personified.
Meanwhile over on hair, Orlando Pita was joining this season’s love affair with the straightening irons, although in this case using them to create natural waves (far more flattering and modern than barrel waves apparently!). Feeling a touch flat myself at this point, I hot-footed it down to the Aveda Institute in Soho for a rare mid fashion week blow-dry (virtually unheard of with our hectic schedules) in preparation for my Lady Gaga party the following day (more of that later).

Keeping the NYC cab drivers in pocket it was back up town to the Lincoln Centre for Anna Sui, one of my favs as you can always guarantee a look. And a look it was from make-up guru Pat McGrath who’s homage to punk was based on Anna’s own days of hanging out with punks and rockers. The hair by Garren was no less raucous with some bright toupe-tastic do’s accessorised with some sparkly grips.
Last show of the day was like an uber chic episode of Brits Abroad with Louise Golding doing the frocks, Hannah Murray on make-up and Guido on hair. The result was a predictably cool ‘slightly sinister’ girl with errant hair and hauntingly polished makeup.
And with a quick stop off at a friend’s party at the hipsters hangout of choice, Le Baron, THAT is what they call a wrap (until LFW that is)….
Until tomorrow!
