Glitter strobing: The only make-up look you need to know for New Year’s Eve

All that glitters is...

The list of insta crazes and makeup trends is never ending. Not that I’m complaining – but the tornado that is social media can make it easy to miss a beauty baking craze or mannequin challenge from time to time.

One lunch break later and my social media fix usually ends with an accidental shopping order on Fabled to help create my new look. Blame Insta!

December is known and loved as the month for full coverage, glitter and anything-goes makeup. So here we have yet another trend, but this time one that is actually achievable for any makeup novice (including me) and doesn’t need a repeated Youtube tutorial to stop yourself looking borderline unicorn. (Although we kinda like that…)

Welcome to Glitter strobing.

What's a girl to do?

Oh yes, we’re talking cheekbones and brow bones that’ll be as lit as your Grandma’s annual Christmas party. It’s taken our Instagram feed by storm and has landed just in time for party season – and boy are we ready.

We vote to ditch the rest and pick this trend in time for your party on New Year’s Eve.

You won’t need a make-up bag update, but what happens between you, Santa and your wish list has nothing to do with us.

Love a good highlight? This nifty quiz matches you with the ultimate highlighter for you! Get your cheekbones ready here

To create this sparkly, sorry-not-sorry look, first apply Mac Strobe Cream in Pearlite, £24.50 then a highlighting powder, like Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder in Pink Glow, £34, Fabled.com, to lock it onto the face. The finishing touch (or the icing on the Yule Log) is to sprinkle individual pieces of glitter from a paint pot on the area for added glam. Believe me when I say every selfie will be #goals.

You’ll also be pleased to know that no steady hand is needed, nor a makeup artistry certificate. This trend is truly for us all. I’d even go as far to say this trend can be mastered after a few glasses of Prosseco – the more abstract the better. Simply pick your fave feature to emphasise, and go for it. We thoroughly enjoy a fairy-like sparkle on our cupids bow with a killer red lip or eye-catching eyeshadow.

What girl doesn’t love glitter around Christmas and New Year’s eve?
