The Oscars 2016 best hair and beauty moments are giving us some serious #inspo
It’s the biggest night of the year for the Hollywood A-list with anyone who is anyone coming out to celebrate (or commiserate) with their fellow acting colleagues on Hollywood’s biggest night of the year.
While the night might actually be about film and all of that malarkey, we’ve been keeping our eyes on the beauty looks that Cate Blanchett and co. have been sporting down the 88th Academy Awards red carpet.
Brie Larson went for the biggest trend of the awards ceremony season by matching her makeup to her beautiful blue Gucci dress, wearing an inky black liner with a pink lipstick and a sleek half up-half down ‘do.
Meanwhile, Olivia Munn also went matchy-matchy, with an orange lip to match her tangerine Stella McCartney gown whilst, nominee Rachel McAdams matched her lower lash liner to her emerald green dress.
Best Actress nominee Saoirse Ronan wore her hair loose and beachy while she kept her makeup look sultry with a kohl lined eye and nude lip. Fellow Best Actress nominee Jennifer Lawrence went for a similar look on the night but kept her centre-parted lob hairstyle poker straight to offset her busy lace dress.
Kerry Washington was another of the night’s beauty highlights: opting for big lashes and eyebrows on fleek (but, ‘what else?’ We hear you cry). Teaming a glossy lip with a seriously stylish hairstyle – her hair was teased into a sleek pony, with a high-rise quiff at the front. Lady Gaga kept to her old Hollywood look, with a rolled hairdo and a glamourous rose gold eye and big lashes. We likey.
The pregnant (and glowing) Chrissy Teigan looked divine in a custom fishtail Marchesa gown and romantic makeup, with an effortlessly teased long braid in her hair. The beautiful Olivia Wilde also sported a plait on the night but went for a chic and intricate Dutch braid.
Rooney Mara looked ethereal while also keeping her look bang-on-trend with a pulled back bun hairstyle and signature cashmere smooth, picture-perfect skin. She brightened up the look with a red lip and brown toned eyeshadow, while Star Wars actress, Daisy Ridley also went for the pulled back look with a twisted bun.

Reese Witherspoon chose to carve out those killer cheekbones of hers with a shimmery blush, while she lined her eyes with a warm gold eyeshadow to make her peepers pop.
Rooney Mara’s futuristic look was simple but effective with a warm earthy wash across the lids and a berry lip. Beauty goals? We think so.
Sofia Vergara chose to change it up a bit for her big night out at the Academy Awards with a pulled back pony instead of wearing her hair loose.
Nominee Saoirse Ronan made sure all eyes were on her on the night with this beautiful and beachy hairstyle. Salt spray, let’s be having you.
Sansa Stark… ahem, we mean… Sophie Turner let her long red hair take centre stage on the night. The Games of Thrones actress went with a metallic wash across the lids to compliment her figure hugging gown.
Tina Fey matched her lower lash eyeshadow to her jewel tone purple gown and wore a pretty pink lip to top it all off.
Need some Old Hollywood glam in your life? Use Lady Gaga’s latest look for your #beautyinspo. We’re all about this old school roll hair look and rose gold eye.
Heidi Klum wore her blonde hair in a loose up-do and wore lashings of mascara to make her eyes really stand out.
Okay, so we may have already tried to recreate Olivia’s Dutch braid for work and it may not have worked, but whatever, we’re still in love with this look.
Nominee Rachel McAdams sported the biggest trend of this year’s award season with a matchy-matchy eyeshadow and gown combo. Beaut!
Naomi Watts kept her look sleek and simple (perhaps to show off that amazing diamond necklace – any chance we could borrow?) with a signature ruby lip and a side-swept bob.
Olivia Munn matched her lip to her gown and kept her hair simple and tied back to ensure that the asymmetric neckline of her dress could stand out.
Lily Cole showed off her positively glowing skin by tying her red locks up and keeping her makeup simple. We’re big fans of her electric blue manicure.
Triple threat Dorith Mous showed up to the red carpet with a wavy fringed ‘do and shimmery lids. She kept the mascara to a minimum to let her clear blue eyes really pop on the red carpet.
Jennifer Garner looked stunning with a simple and classic up-do.
Isla Fisher looked Disney princess worthy with her red locks flowing over her shoulder and a striking red lip.
Julianne Moore wore her hair down and centre-parted, topping off her look with lashings of mascara. We LOVE.
Looking sharp and oh-so-chic, Kerry Washington’s red carpet beauty look was faultless.
Kate Winslet stepped away from her signature chignon and instead wore her hair loose with a wave for a bit of movement. The ‘do complimented her strapless Ralph Lauren gown.
Amy Poehler donned a structured up-do with a statement side-swept fringe in loose-hanging tendrils.
Best Supporting Actress winner, Alicia Vikander looked fresh faced on the night with glowing skin and barely-there makeup.
Best Actress winner Brie Larson went matchy-matchy with a blue gown and eyeshadow.
Singer Andra Day donned a glamorous retro look with an Old Hollywood wave in her hair and dramatic eye makeup.
Chrissy Teigan was positively glowing for the night. With a slick of bronzer across her cheeks, minimal eye make-up and a glossy nude lip, Chrissy looked as if she had just walked off the beach.
Red carpet vet Cate Blanchett went for a signature smokey eye and then a slight blush on the night while she kept her bob behind her ears to show off those absolutely jaw dropping earrings.
Star Wars actress Daisy pulled her hair back into a tight and twisted bun and let her red lips take centre stage.
Previous winner, Charlize Theron went with a bronze shaded eye to balance out her statement gown and rocked a quiff in her hair.
Margot Robbie sported one of our favourite trends (like, ever) by going with a barely-there makeup look and glamorous bedhead hair. The actress amped up the dewy factor and kept her lips nude for the look. All in all, it’s a MASSIVE thumbs up from us.
Pregnant Emily Blunt went for full on glamour on the night with beautiful drop earrings and a shimmery pink lip and eye.
