Growing in popularity since they were first spotted on David Beckham, the style was later perfected by Jared Leto. Since its first appearance we have learnt to appreciate the humble man bun and now view it as a thing of beauty, something to be admired. With man bun styles ranging from office appropriate chignons to the ultimate ‘just got out of bed’ topknots there is a style for every type of man. Challenging previous stereotypes the man bun is no longer the domain of only rock gods or hippies. Others are braving a new look and growing their hair longer to create the perfect man bun!
You know the man bun is a big thing when there are so many YouTube videos demonstrating how to create this look and with numerous Tumblr and Instagram profiles devoted entirely to their existence. Be sure to look out for the Instagram account @Manbunmonday which has over 200,000 followers, and posts the hottest man buns throughout the week – so you know, you can get your Man Bun fix.
As you’ve probably already twigged ladies, the Man Bun as a hairstyle, is actually quite simple and basically effortless to achieve and works with any hair type providing its long enough to tie (funny, that?!).
Of course the celebs dont want to look like they are following trends, so tend to mix up their looks by adding their own personal touches; either accompanying their man buns with rugged beards, as seen on Jared Leto, or an undercut as spotted on Colin Farrell. In fact, each celebrity shows how the deceptively simple man bun can take on many different forms, meaning it can be pretty much rocked no matter the age, situation or event.
One of the pioneers of the modern man bun though, Jared Leto has certainly locked his look down. Jared has personalised the look by wrapping a section of his highlighted ends around the base of the bun giving it an overall slick finish AKA man-bun-perfection.

With such a majestic display of man-bunnery, it’s no wonder this photo received over 8,000 likes on Instagram.

Always rocking the latest hair trends, Orlando seems to make the man bun work no matter what the occasion – impressive stuff, non?

Tying back his long golden mane with a simple black band into this low knot, Brad shows how truly, wonderfully effortless the man bun is to create. Having donned long locks for many-a- movie by this point, Brad is no stranger to the man bun – or goatee, it would appear – and some might argue Brad was one of the early pioneers of the trend ging way, way back to the early Noughties.
