If scare stories in the press are to be believed, we're all absorbing far too many toxins through our skin - and make-up's the evil culprit. Top of the most wanted list are parabens - cosmetic preservatives which mimic the action of female hormones and have been linked to breast cancer.

While conclusive evidence has yet to be produced, paraben-free make-up is available for those wishing to err on the side of caution, and Living Nature makes some of the best.

The brand, which also bans synthetic fragrances, alcohol and aluminium from its ingredients lists, has just launched a new, 60-piece line of mineral make-up, which uses Manuka honey to nourish the skin.

We especially like the tinted moisturiser, £18, and creamy, easily blendable concealer, £14.
