The best body moisturisers for very dry skin

As winter draws in, it's time to swap your usual body cream for something a little thicker and a little more luxurious. Apply daily, after your shower or bath, and don't be afraid to top up before you jump into bed. Pay particular attention to elbows, knees and heels and remember to exfoliate when you wash to get rid of any dead skin build-up.

When choosing your body cream, look for ingredients like royal jelly, which is found in Lancôme Nutrix Royal Body and Boots Royal Jelly Body Lotion, £2.99, to help keep the skin supple.

Cocoa butter is also an excellent moisturising ingredient. Find it in Palmer's Cocoa Butter Body Lotion, £2.34, and The Body Shop's famous, award-winning Cocoa Butter Body Butter, £12.50.

If you want something that looks as good on your bedside table as it feels on your skin, Laura Mercier Crème Brulee Souffle Body Cream, £42, is just the thing. It might not be cheap, but it smells simply heavenly.
