Body moisturising
With millions of different body lotions on the market, it can be hard to know which one to choose. You don't have to spend a fortune, but the more expensive products are likely to have added benefits, alongside just simply making your skin feel less dry.
For starters, look for moisturisers with natural ingredients, which are better at mimicking the body's own moisture-capturing capabilities.
Lancôme Aroma Source Moisturing Body Lotion, for instance, contains natural extracts of hibiscus flowers to help detoxify the skin and glycerol for intense moisturisation.
If you prefer a richer cream formula, the delicious smelling Neal's Yard Remedies Rose Body Cream, £24, has won numerous awards for its brilliant body pampering ingredients, including shea and cocoa butter, alongside geranium, ylang ylang, cederwood and rose oil.
Apply body creams and lotions just after stepping out of the shower, to help retain as much moisture as possible, paying particular attention to your elbows and heels.
Be aware, too, that fake tans will dry out your skin so use in moderation if you suffer from exceptionally dry skin during the summer months.
