What can I do to brighten and even out my skin tone? (40-50)
If you're eating correctly, not unduly stressed and following a good skincare routine, there's no reason your skin shouldn't look healthy and bright at your age.
Make sure your cleanser is removing every last trace of make-up, and add a gentle toner if you want to be doubly sure. However, the cornerstone of your skincare routine should be a brilliant moisturiser. Lancôme Absolue Premium Bx, £84, uses a patented complex of wild yam, soya, brown algae and barley to firm, nourish and brighten the skin – with brilliant results. In the evening, it's worth combining it with Absolu Premium Bx Serum, £104.95, for a double whammy of skin-perfecting nutrients and moisturisers.
Don't forget, you can help the appearance of your skin by drinking plenty of water and eating lots of fresh fruit and veg. If you feel you're missing out at all, add a daily supplement to your breakfast routine. Pro-Ferm+ and Nude Age Defence, £58, available from SpaceNK, are both formulated especially to improve mature skin and help your body cleanse itself toxins and free radicals.
If you want to give your skin a weekly boost, add a moisturising facemask to your Sunday night bedtime rituals. We love Neal's Yard Remedies White Tea Enriching Facial Mask, £20, which uses natural clays, rose extract and pumpkin seed oil to pamper the skin.
