Jane Eyre
By Marie Claire advertorial on Thursday 15 January 2009
Meet our Fiction Forum panellist:
Caroline Sharp, 30, from Hertfordshire, works for a healthcare communication agency. Caroline alternates between contemporary and classic ficton novels.
'I read a lot of popular romance,' says Caroline, 'but I enjoy the words and style of the classics more than anything.'
Caroline never gets bored with reading Jane Eyre because it feels like 'several novels in one,' as you follow Jane's life as a pupil at a harsh charity school and then as governess to the ward of the mysterious Mr Rochester.
'I love Jane's spirited uncompromising character, the variety of people and locations, the witty dialogue between Rochester and Jane, and the fact that it's about love regardless of beauty or background,' Caroline explains.
'It gives you faith that it's what's on the inside that really counts.'
