Britain's Missing Top Model: Sophie Morgan
Art student Sophie, 22, broke her back in a car accident the day after she recieved her A-level results in 2003 and is paralysed from the chest down. She recently moved from her parents home in Sussex to a flat in London's Covent Garden to gain more independence.
Sophie is no stranger to the modelling world as she has posed for various art projects. She believes that part of being a good model is having a good personality, and her fun-loving personality certainly shines through the camera lens.

I think as a model you have something special that different from the others. You've got beautiful body just other contestant, but your weak legs are the most beautiful from your whole body, everybody loves you and I love you too. Bravo and be the winner!

I was so disappointed that Sophie didn't win the competition, she wanted it so badly and really wants to make a difference, but it was all shattered.
At the end, when she left the room and said 'I'm not pretty enough' genuinely made me sad, and I felt upset that it had made her feel like that, as she is in no way not pretty enough to win any competition. It's a shame they were judging on 'model' things and not personality, as Sophie would win hands down!

Sophie will bring more to the model industry than anyone on BMTM would ever have imagined!

Sophie, you are so pretty and your personality is amazing, your courage is like nothing I've seen. It's beyond me how you did not win! I just hope you carry on!

I don't usually bother commenting on news stories, but I had to add to this: I was really disappointed and surprised that Sophie didn't win. Her beauty, passion, and strength stood out from the other contestants. Having said that, perhaps it will turn out to be a blessing in disguise: her intelligence, spirit, and passion might not get fully expressed through modelling, and I'm sure that she could achieve her aim of changing perceptions of disability through other means - she would make a great presenter for TV programmes about the issues she cares about, for example. Good luck, Sophie, I'm sure this won't be the last we see of you!

I thought Sophie was the winner in terms of both beauty and personality. For the judges to say that she wasn't raw enough compared with the winner is effectively acknowledging that she was the best. How others can improve is speculative and this competition should have been judged on who was the best now.

Absolutely believe that Sophie should have won on the basis of looks and personality. There is no justice.

I really cannot believe that Sophie didn't win. I thought Kelly would get eliminated in the first week. Obviously the reason why the judges didn't pick Sophie to be the winner is that because Sophie has shown on BMTM that she is already fabulous at being a model. I thought the winner of the competition is supposed to be the person who can show that they are the best at modeling. Obviously not by the fact Kelly won. Sophie was clearly the best in the final round and all through the competition. Unlucky Sophie for being the runner up to a model is nowhere near as good as you!

I think Sophie is an incredible young lady with so much energy, passion and intelligence. Not only is she stunning but she's full of potential. No disrespect to Kelly, who is lovely also, but Sophie was the true winner. She needs to carry on highlighting the issues she cares about... she could do so much more than just being a model! Good luck Sophie!

Such a shame that Sophie didn't win. She has beauty and brains and she'd have been an excellent role-model for those of us who are wheelchair-users. Congratulations, though, to Marie-Claire magazine for helping to get the subject of disability into the open and to Take Two for taking on Kelly, who won.

I think sophie is a great role model to younger teenagers who want to be models but are disabled. im 14 and also paralyzed from the chest down and i find sophie very inspiring.

I cant believe sophie didnt win! She is amazing and should not give up on her dream of being a model. My oldest daughter really looks up to sophie and wants to go into modeling even though she to is disabled. Well done sophie.

She has perfect leg, so I think sophie is the best. I think everyone waiting for her next pose!!!

While Sophie does have many of the positive attributes, listed on this page. She was a sore loser, and the ringleading bully who picked on Jessica. She then turned on Kelly when Jessica was eliminated. She had nothing positive to say about any of the other girls. I was quite frankly shocked at ther attitude to the other girls disabilities. I think she could be a good role model for wheelchair users, but not for disabilities: as she does not seem to class anybody, who is not in a wheelchair as being truely disabled. I hope as she grows up, she learns to conduct herself in more dignified manner; and gains the insight to understand the true definition of disability, does not only apply to her.

Im sorry but I think Sophie was a sore loser!
She was really nasty to some of the girls especially towards Jessica and bullied her.
She crashed her car, whose fault was that?? She needs to stop benig angry with the world and take some responsibility for how she behaves.
If she wants to be a role model for people with disabilities, she needs to change her attitude to all types of disabilities. I agree with ms jones, the true definition of disability does not just apply to her.

i was so disappointed that the judges ultimately chose 'just your regular pretty face' instead of the perhaps less run of the mill beauty and intelligence that sophie displays. i personally found her a great beauty, just as judge Wayne did. her personality is great. she will go far. what an amazing woman when i heard how she dealt with her disability, which is so much more disabling than e.g. Kelly's. What stamina and zest for life! You go for it girl!!
Never mind that you didn't win. You'll go far!
